In June of 2019, I asked library employees for selfies and information about their summer reading plans, and created a series of social media posts for the University Libraries feeds. This series was linked by President Stokes in her Weekly Perspective email!
As part of my work with the University Libraries social media team, I was assigned to create content for an intersession week in January. As this is a quiet time of the year with few events when most students aren’t even on campus, I decided to create a film noir style series starring Lobo Louie complaining of the loneliness he suffers when campus is so empty. For this project, the client requested several views of filtered content for their Drupal site, with the option for the user to export the filtered content in CSV format. We didn’t like the styling and placement of the default export button provided by the Drupal Views Data Export module, so I customized it with the following steps.

To support community partners of New Mexico Digital Collections, I created a comprehensive guide that includes information and instructions specific to the NMDC installation, as well as links to training and information resources from OCLC. This guide was a central location for NMDC community partners — libraries, archives, and museums across the state — to learn how to manage and use the platform to share their digitized content. I built it using the LibGuides CMS, part of the LibApps suite from Springshare. Below is the content I created.

The Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initiative (FADGI) provides best-practice technical guidelines for digitizing cultural heritage materials – mainly still images. The FADGI guidelines go into depth and are very technical. This post will discuss the basics of working with digital images in an archival context.
Metadata is “a set of attributes necessary to describe a resource.” That is, metadata gives users more information about an item, and it helps users find the items they’re looking for. That’s why it’s so important to create good metadata for your items. Some examples of metadata that you might be familiar with are title, description, keywords, or hashtags — but there are lots more.
Consider the questions below when planning your Web site project. While not all questions apply to every project, answering the relevant ones will help your project move along smoothly.
WordPress is a free content management system. It can be set up quickly and inexpensively, making it perfect for smaller-budget clients.
